The Island Adventure was a cruise ship owned by the Bahamas- based shipping company SeaEscape , which entered service in 1976 as Kazakhstan for the Soviet Black Sea Shipping Company . The ship stayed in service until 2008 and was scrapped in India in 2012 .
history
The Kazakhstan was built under construction number 1222 near Wärtsilä in Turku and launched on October 17, 1975. In June 1976 the ship was delivered to the Black Sea Shipping Company and used for both cruises and ferry operations.
From February to May 1984 the Kazakhstan was rebuilt and modernized at Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven . Among other things, the car deck was replaced by additional cabins. The ship then stayed in service for another ten years for the Black Sea Shipping Company.
In December 1994, Kazakhstan was sold under the new name Ukraina to Blasco UK, based in Liberia , but was not initially put into service. In September 1996, she went as a charter under the name Royal Seas at the Royal Seas Cruises Lines . The ship, now registered in Ukraine , was used for cruises from Tampa , Florida . After the charter contract expired in January 1997, it was named Ukraine and was launched .
After a year of lay-in, the cruise operator SeaEscape chartered the Ukraine under the name Island Adventure in order to use it for casino cruises off Florida. In August 2007 Cruise Charter Ltd. took over the ship from Blasco UK and continued to be managed by SeaEscape.
On August 21, 2008, the Island Adventure was arrested for unpaid wages to the crew and sold in October 2008 to the Burrell Shipping Company based in Panama , but they did not get it back on the road. Instead, it was sold to a demolition yard in India in May 2011 under the flag of Tanzania and the transfer name Adventure . On November 3, 2011, the ship arrived in Alang , where scrapping began in 2012.
