Lists on the subject |
The Sea Venom / ANL is a light anti-ship missile made by MBDA . It will one day replace the Sea Skua and AS.15TT .
development
The start of the project, initially called the "FASGW-ANL program", was announced at the DSEI exhibition in London in September 2009. The French and British armed forces started the program to develop the Sea Venom missile in 2014 and agreed on an equal division of labor. The first test launch by a Eurocopter Dauphin helicopter belonging to the military procurement authority “Direction Générale de l'Armement” took place in June 2017 over the French Mediterranean test site Île du Levant near Toulon . Britain wants to deploy its missiles from the AgustaWestland AW159 helicopter . France, however, plans to shoot the missiles from the future Hélicoptère Interarmées Léger (HIL). The Sea Venom / ANL will also be tested with classic Westland Lynx .
technology
The rocket, weighing around 100 kg, is equipped with a 30 kg warhead and has a range of around 20 kilometers. It can automatically fly flight profiles, including the deepest flight, and can be fired as a volley. A two-way data link sends the infrared images of the seeker head to the carrier helicopter so that its operator can intervene during the entire duration of the flight and subsequently assign a different target.
