The Seahorse 35 series was designed in 2007 by the Danish shipbuilding company Grontmij (formerly: Carl Bro / Dwinger Marine Consult). The ships have been built by Chinese shipyards for various shipping companies since 2008.
The Seahorse-35-ships are as Handymax - bulk carriers with double hull and aft arranged structures designed. You have five holds , three of which are box-shaped. Each hold is served by its own hatch, the hatch covers of which are operated hydraulically. Four hydraulic ship cranes mounted amidships are available for cargo handling . The basic variant of the ship type has a cargo space of around 46,700 m³ and can transport around 35,000 tons at a draft draft of 10.10 m. The basically structurally identical version Seahorse 375 carries approx. 37,500 tons with a maximum unloading of 10.65 m. The units are designed for the transport of various bulk goods , such as grain, coal, minerals, including various dangerous goods. The tank roof of the cargo hold is reinforced for the transport of ore. Bagged goods, steel profiles, tubes and other bulk cargo can also be transported.
The propulsion of the ships consists of various designs, two - stroke diesel engine of the type MAN 5S50. Depending on the engine, top speeds of 13-15 knots are possible. There are three auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator available.
