Sean's Bar
The Sean's Bar is a pub in the Irish town of Athlone . The pub was originally called Luain's Inn . The bar is located near the banks of the Shannon River , almost at the geographic center of Ireland.
Sean's Bar claims to be not only the oldest bar in Ireland, but the whole world. During renovation work in early 1970, parts of the old adobe structure from the year 900 were found. Coins that were minted by later owners and other artifacts are in the collection of the Irish National Museum in Dublin.
Sean's Bar was officially listed in the Guinness Book of Records in 2004 , with archaeological evidence and dates on the adobe and wattle walls .
