Sean Marshall (born June 19, 1965 in Canoga Park , California , USA ) is an American actor . The leading role of the orphan boy Pete in the Walt Disney fantasy musical Elliot, the Smirking Monster ( Pete's Dragon , 1977) made him known worldwide .

Life

Sean Marshall had his first film and television appearances from 1973, including in the western Until the Last Breath ( The Deadly Trackers , 1973) on the side of Richard Harris . But it was his role in Elliot, the smile monster , that made him known and briefly made a child star . The main role of the orphan boy Pete , which also required vocal interludes, also required special empathy from him, as in many special effects scenes, in which the dragon Elliot was later incorporated as a cartoon character, he initially had to act completely alone in front of a screen lit with sodium vapor lamps . He could only imagine his imaginary counterpart. For his performance, Sean Marshall received a 1978 Saturn Award nomination for Best Actor . In 1978 he could be seen again in a Disney film, when he was the main character of the boy in the short cartoon film The Donkey of Bethlehem ( The Small One ) directed by Don Bluth .

His television appearances include the 13-part series The Fitzpatricks , in which he played Max Fitzpatrick , and the television film The New Adventures of Heidi (1978). In this musical variation by Johanna Spyris Heidi , Sean Marshall played alongside Katy Kurtzman , Burl Ives and John Gavin the (goat) Peter . He had his last appearance in front of the camera in 1980 in the television film My dreams are colorful ( To Race the Wind ). After that, he retired from acting.
