Sebastian Greiber

Sebastian Greiber (born May 30, 1980 in Saarlouis ) is a German politician, entrepreneur and mayor of the municipality of Wadgassen . He is a member of the SPD.

Life and work

After graduating from the district secondary school in Saarlouis in 1997, he completed an apprenticeship at Saarberg AG . He then worked in online marketing for the Saarbrücker Zeitung . In 2004 he founded the company Deutsche Textil, which has operated as a GmbH since 2007 .

In November 2016, Greiber took over the management of Gemeindewerke Wadgassen GmbH and Gemeindestrom Wadgassen GmbH

Greiber is married and has three daughters and one son.

politics

In 1997 Greiber became a member of the SPD and was involved in various youth and training representatives. In May 2000 he left the SPD and became a member of the FDP in May 2002. He held various positions at the Saar Liberals . He was chairman of the local authority association of his home country (2003-2014), deputy state chairman of the party (2011-2014) and district chairman in Saarlouis (2012-2014). At the Young Liberals , he was regional manager (2003–2006), deputy state chairman (2005–2009) and state chairman (2009–2011) in Saarland. From 2009 to 2014 he was chairman of the FDP parliamentary groups in the Saarlouis district council as well as in the Wadgassen local council and member of the board of the Saarland district council .

In 2013, despite his party membership, he ran as a free candidate for the election of the mayor of Wadgassen with the “I love Wadgassen” campaign. After he got the most votes in the first ballot with 36%, he was elected mayor in a runoff election on December 8, 2013 with 63% of the vote. He took up this office on May 1, 2014 and has since suspended his membership in the party. In March 2017 he returned to the SPD.
