Sebastian Halgasch (born December 20, 1980 in Dresden ) is a German swimmer .

Halgasch's main type of swimming is backstroke . At the European Short Course Championships in 1999 in Lisbon , Portugal , he achieved second place as a back swimmer with the 4 × 50 m individual relay. In the individual start over 50 m back he took third place. In 2000 he was runner-up in the short course world champion on the back track in Athens (Greece) with the 4 × 100 m layer relay . Just a few months later, the 4 × 50 m individual relay in Valencia, Spain, took first place at the 2000 European Short Course Championships . Here too, Halgasch was set up for the back stretch.

In the 2001 season he won the Swimming World Cup in 50 m back and 100 m medley. In 1997 he was the German short course champion over 50 m back.

Halgasch has been the head of the water polo department at SWV TuR Dresden since 2017 .
