Sebastian Matthes (* 1977 in Berlin ) is a German business journalist .

Life

Sebastian Matthes studied political science and economics at the University of Hamburg . He then graduated from the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists . Matthes received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation .

In 2009 he became Head of Technology & Knowledge at Wirtschaftswoche magazine in Düsseldorf. In this function, he also founded the Internet portal WiWo Green . In 2013, Matthes became editor-in-chief of the German edition of the Huffington Post .

In 2017, the Düsseldorfer Handelsblatt appointed Matthes as deputy editor-in-chief and head of the digital division with effect from the first quarter of 2018 .

Due to some demands for more data protection, Matthes sees an increasing hostility towards technology among Germans.
