Pierre Bischoff (born November 30, 1984 ) is a German extreme athlete . He competes in long distance road bike and mountain bike races.

Life

Bischoff grew up in Oberhausen and lives in Nauders on the Reschenpass . After cycling to the coast of Croatia in 2004 because of a bet , he developed an interest in cycling. He initially took part in licensed races in the Ruhr area , shifted his focus to long distance races in 2008 and only competed in licensed races for training purposes. A year later he was able to win the 24-hour race Rad am Ring at the Nürburgring as a soloist. He achieved a success in the 2010 season with third place in the Race across the Alps . In 2011 he was fourth. At the 24h mountain bike race in Duisburg he has been able to achieve four wins in a row since 2010, two of them in the team.

In 2012 he started for the first time in a race lasting longer than 24 hours, the Race Around Austria . He finished this with fourth place and a new German record. A year later he achieved second place in the team of two in this race, again with a new German record. In 2014 he was able to finish the race in third place under difficult weather conditions. In June 2014 he was runner-up in the Glocknerman world championship . In 2015 he started together with Rainer Steinberger . So he won the Race Around Slovenia with him . At the Race Around Austria 2015 he had to give up prematurely on the third day.

In 2016, Bischoff started the Race Across America for the first time and won the 4800 km race from the west to the east coast of North America as a rookie. Pierre Bischoff, who competes for ASV Duisburg , is the first and so far only German cyclist to win this race. In November 2016 he was honored as the city's athlete of the year in Duisburg . In 2017 he won the Glocknerman and thereby became world champion in the ultra bike marathon.

In 2018, Bischoff won the Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme, the longest stage race in the world. Further starts at the 24 Hours of Duisburg and the Race around Ireland followed in 2019. Bischoff won both races and decided to take a break in ultra cycling for the time being.
