Sebastian Preissler

Sebastian or Bastian Preißler , also Preußler , († 1591 in Oberjugel ) was a German entrepreneur . He founded the Oberjugel glassworks not far from the border with Bohemia , which among other things supplied the Saxon court in Dresden . He is not to be confused with his son of the same name.

Life

The man from a family of glassmakers in Heidelbach near Seiffen / Erzgeb. Sebastian Preißler, who originally came from Germany, received the privilege of building a glassworks “ on the small Jugel in the Schwartzenberg district ” and building eight residential houses from the Elector August von Sachsen in 1571 . Preißler had to pay the following taxes annually: “ 2 chests of common disks, one of which was about 7 bottles. werth, 6 shock mirror panes, each shock a 24 gl., 3 shock small white credenz glasses with lids of the best glass, one shock a 4 bottles, 4 shock common beer glasses, each 24 gl. ”After Sebastian Preißler's death, his son took over Georg the glassworks. His granddaughter Anna married Christoph Löbel , who later owned the glassworks.
