Sebastiano Lo Nigro

Sebastiano Lo Nigro (born March 24, 1919 in Catania , † October 7, 1984 in Paris ) was an Italian folklorist .

Career

Lo Nigro studied 1937-1940 Italian Philology at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa , where he also with a dissertation on aspects and problems of Italian folk poetry doctorate . In 1965 he became professor of cultural anthropology at the Faculty of Literature at the University of Catania.

The spectrum of his research, in which he combines historical - philological criteria with a socio- anthropological perspective, ranges from conventional literary criticism to folklore studies.
