Sebastien Cattelan
Sebastien Cattelan (born July 6, 1976 in Toulouse , France ) is a French kitesurfer. With a speed of 50.26 kn (93 km / h ) on October 3, 2008 in Lüderitz , Namibia, he achieved the current world speed record for sail-powered watercraft over a distance of 500 meters. He is the first person to break the 50 knot mark, often referred to as "magical". Cattelan, whose nickname is "Catman", is the ninth person who has managed to improve the 500 meter record since the official records began in 1972.
This mark has yet to be ratified by the WSSRC.
