Sebastopolis (Pontus)
Sebastopolis (Σεβαστούπολις, also Herakleopolis) was an ancient city in Pontos , today the place Sulusaray , 68 km from Tokat and 30 km from Artova on the Çekerek river.
The oldest known name of the city was Karana. It belonged to the domain of Galatian Ateporix .
In Byzantine times the city belonged to Armenia Secunda . The following are documented as bishops:
