Sedat Doğruer (* 1884 in Istanbul ; † June 19, 1955 in Istanbul) was a Turkish lieutenant general .

Life

After attending school in 1901, Doğruer began training as an officer at the Army School (Mekteb-i Erkân-ı Harbiye) , which he completed as a lieutenant (Teğmen) . In addition to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk , his fellow students also included Kâzım Özalp and Ali Fuat Cebesoy . After serving as an infantry officer, he entered the Army Academy (Kara Harp Akademisi) in 1904 and after its graduation found numerous uses in various units and took part in the Balkan Wars and World War I , among others . On January 28, 1919 he became the commandant of the former Army School (Mekteb-i Erkân-ı Harbiye) of the Ottoman Empire , from which today's Kara Harp Okulu emerged . He held this post until January 1, 1921. At the same time, he became Deputy Chief of the General Staff in 1920 (Genelkurmay İkinci Başkanlı) .

For his participation in the war of liberation Doğruer was awarded the Medal of Independence ( İstiklâl Madalyası ) . On October 1, 1925, he succeeded Mehmet Kenan Dalbaşar as commander of the Kara Harp Akademisi Army Academy and held this post until November 21, 1927. His successor was Hasan Basri Saran .

On January 2, 1932, Doğruer was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of National Defense (Millî Savunma Bakanlığı) . He then became General Secretary of the Ministry of Defense on January 1, 1933 and thus the highest head of the administration of this Ministry. Later he was again Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense on March 9, 1940, before he finally became Lieutenant General (Co- General ) and Commanding General of the IX. Corps was. He remained in this post until his retirement on September 28, 1942.

After his death he was buried in the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery (Zincirlikuyu Mezarlığı) .
