The sea ​​trip commemorative coin 1892/93 was donated on November 11, 1893 by Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary and could be awarded to all participants in the ten-month trip to the Far East on the SMS Empress Elisabeth , including the heir to the throne Archduke Franz Ferdinand .

The medal , made of gilded gun bronze, shows an anchor surrounded by a wreath of tropical plants. The double-headed eagle can be seen above the anchor with its wings spread wide. All around TRAVEL SM SHIP EMPRESS ELISABETH . On the reverse the intertwined initials FF (Franz Ferdinand) and the six-line inscription EAST INDIEN AUSTRALIA SOUTH SEA ISLAND CHINA JAPAN 1892–1893 . Below is a wreath of leaves tied together.

The award was worn on a white ribbon with blue stripes on the left breast that was watered blue in between.
