Sega CDX (US version of the Multi-Mega)

The Sega Multi-Mega or Sega CDX (USA) is a combination device consisting of a Sega Mega Drive and Sega Mega-CD, limited to 5,000 pieces . It is slightly larger than a Discman , the module slot is behind the CD flap, and there is no monitor. Even if this device was sold as a portable console, only the function of the CD player is possible in battery operation. In order to be able to play, the device must be connected to the mains using the power supply.

The device can play all mega-drive as well as mega-CD games. These games can also be played in combination with the Sega 32X , but Sega has explicitly denied this in the USA. It is believed that Sega feared that the CDX would otherwise not have been approved by the FCC .

Due to its rarity, this device has a high collector's value. This has the consequence that it is partly traded at the new price (then 999.00 DM , about 750 ).
