In a sailing school which is sailing in theory and practice of sailing instructors taught.

This can be done in sailing schools as well as in sailing clubs or sailing clubs. Depending on the objective, the theoretical training includes seamanship , knot science , navigation and evasive rules . The practical training mainly includes maneuvers , handling nautical charts , handling anchors and seamanship ( e.g. knotting , commands on deck).

Practical training often takes place on special training boats.

The most common goals of sailing students are to acquire a sailing license , a sports boat license or to become familiar with sailing.
