The Sehpferdchen was an advertising figure drawn by Hans Fischerkoesen on commercial television for North German Radio . It was a cartoon character modeled on a seahorse that was used as a commercial separator from 1959 to 1969 . The seahorse family consisted of father Lukas, his wife and several children.

In the 1980s, the NDR used short real scenes of zoo animals as a commercial separator.
