Silk Road Fund

The Silk Road Fund ( Chinese  丝路 基金 , Pinyin Sílu jíjin ) is a Chinese state-owned investment fund for the development and financing of infrastructure projects that are part of the new Silk Road initiative “ One Belt, One Road ” (OBOR, “ One Belt, One Road ”) ) should be realized.

The fund was officially opened in Beijing on December 29, 2014 with seed capital of US $ 10 billion . In May 2017, it was topped up by a further $ 14.5 billion to cover the increased financing requirements.

Since then, investments have been made in the Karot hydropower project on the 4th cascade on Jhelam in northern Pakistan . This region is located in the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" ( China-Pakistan Economic Corridor ), the promotion of which is part of the OBOR initiative.
