Seiko Instruments KK ( Japanese セ イ コ ー イ ン ス ツ ル 株式会社 , Seikō Insutsuru Kabushiki-gaisha , Eng. Seiko Instruments Inc. , SII for short ) is a Japanese electronics company , as well as watch and clockwork manufacturer . The company is a 100% subsidiary of the Seiko holding company.

Business sectors are mechatronics (e.g. for watches, hard drives , thermal printers ), electronic components (e.g. CMOS - ICs , quartz crystals, batteries, LCDs), system applications (e.g. order entry systems , electronic dictionaries, Color printer), scientific instruments (e.g. measuring and analysis instruments, radiation detectors), as well as others (e.g. network servers).

history

Kintaro Hattori founded Kintaro Hattori & Co., Ltd in 1881 and Seikosha Co., Ltd. was established in 1891 . (Predecessor of Seiko Clock Inc. and Seiko Precision Inc.) to produce clocks there.

The company was founded as KK Daini Seikōsha ( 株式会社 第二 精工 舎 , literally: "2. Seikōsha") in 1937 as a spin-off of watch production from Seikōsha , the manufacturing company of the Seiko Group.

In 1959, the Suwa plant ( 諏 訪 工場 , Suwa kōjō ) was spun off as an independent company and merged with YK Daiwa Kōgyō ( 有限会社 大 和 工業 , Yūgen-gaisha Daiwa Kōgyō , English Daiwa Kogyo, Ltd. ) to form KK Suwa Seikōsha ( 株式会社諏 訪 精工 舎 , Kabushiki-gaisha Suwa Seikōsha ), today's Epson .

1983 was renamed the KK Daini Seikosha in Seiko Denshi Kogyo KK ( セイコー電子工業株式会社 , dt. "Seiko Electronics Industry") and 1997 Seiko Instruments KK ( セイコーインスツルメンツ株式会社, Seiko Insutsurumentsu Kabushiki-gaisha ), where in 2004 the Japanese Name was shortened to today's variant while retaining the English name.

Seiko Instruments Inc. is the manufacturer of movements for Seiko Holding. The company also produces wristwatches, which are sold under its own brands.

Seiko Instruments GmbH

The German subsidiary Seiko Instruments GmbH was founded in 1983 to sell electronic components.
