Environmental seal of approval for Alpine Club huts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The environmental seal of approval for Alpine Club huts was introduced in 1994 by the Austrian Alpine Club and in 1995 by the German Alpine Club in order to emphasize the commitment of the Alpine Clubs in the field of environmental protection , in particular the sustainable use of the Alpine mountains, and to encourage the sections to become more involved. The environmental seal of approval is awarded to shelters that, by investing in suitable technology and changing the management of the huts, meet the principle of sustainability in environmental protection in a special way. The Alpine Association South Tyrol (AVS) later joined.

criteria

The general basic requirement is compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations. In addition, care must be taken with all new investments to adapt supply and disposal systems to the state of the art .

There are also the following requirements for awarding the environmental seal of approval for mountain huts by the Alpine Club:

- Energy saving measures
- Renewable energy sources
- Water-saving measures
- Measures to reduce the pollution load
- Avoidance of waste
- Waste recycling / disposal

At the request of the section that owns the huts and after review by a jury , the award of the environmental quality seal is unlimited; an annual review by the jury is planned.
