The Schlernbödelehütte , also called Johann-Santner-Hütte , is a 1693  m high refuge in the Schlern group of the South Tyrolean Dolomites in Italy . It is owned by the Sciliar section of the Alpine Club South Tyrol and is located in the Sciliar-Rosengarten nature park .

Location and surroundings

The hut is located on the so-called Schlernbödele at the foot of the Schlern, northeast of the main massif. It is a starting point for hikes to the summit of this South Tyrolean landmark, but also for climbing tours on the Burgstallwand and the upstream Santner . The Alpe di Siusi stretches to the east and northeast .

history

The Schlernhaus , built in the 19th century by the Bozen section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club , was expropriated by the Italian state after the First World War and given to the Alpino Italiano Club . As a replacement, the Schlernbödelehütte was built in 1961 by the Bolzano section of the South Tyrol Alpine Club and named after Johann Santner . After this was destroyed by an avalanche in 1984, the AVS sections Bozen and Schlern agreed on a new building, which was completed in 1986. This was awarded the environmental seal of approval for Alpine Club huts .
