The Grünten cable car is an aerial cableway on the Grünten in the Allgäu that is used for passenger transport and material supply .

The aerial tramway operated by Bayerischer Rundfunk to supply the transmitter on the Grünten has a length of 2597 meters and went into operation in 1971. Here she overcomes a height of 951 meters. The two carrying ropes have a diameter of 28 mm, the pull rope one of 16 mm. The maximum speed of the Grünten cable car is 18 km / h. The two cabins can accommodate a maximum of 11 people. The Grünten cable car has a single column that is 27 meters high. Passengers have also been carried since June 2007 - but only on Thursdays from June to October. Since a maximum of 200 visitors were transported per day of operation, a reservation was necessary via the Rettenberg Guest Office.

Public transport on the Grünten has been suspended since May 2014. Bayerischer Rundfunk wanted to transfer the entire day of driving for the audience to the responsibility of the Rettenberg community, including all rights and obligations. The community would have had to hire its own staff for this. The government of Upper Bavaria stated that this was not possible as requested by the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation. After the BR rejected the compromise proposal by the municipality, the Grüntenseilbahn has only been used to supply materials and transport the BR technicians to the Grünten since May 2014.
