El Madania cable car

The cable cars of Algiers are five aerial cableways that are operated as part of the local public transport system in Algiers by ETUSA - Entreprise de transport urbain et suburbain d'Alger, the urban and regional transport association. They make it easier to negotiate the steep slopes of the Bay of Algiers on which the city was built.

description

Four of the cable cars are small aerial tramways , the oldest of which was built in 1956. All four were completely renewed in 2008, with Entreprise du métro d'Alger (EMA) acting as the builder and client. The fifth is a 3 km long gondola lift opened in 2014 .
