Julius Frei

Julius Frei (born January 10, 1874 in Zurich , † December 28, 1939 in Binningen ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

Life

Frei attended schools in Zurich and then attended the seminar in Kreuzlingen . From 1897 to 1922 he worked as a teacher in Binningen. He was also a well-known choirmaster and beekeeper . That is why he was also head of honey control at Bee Friends and on the board of the Swiss Beekeeping Association .

From 1920 to 1922 was free for the FDP in the district administrator . He was on the government council from 1922 to 1938 and was responsible for the Interior Office. He was also President in 1925/1926, 1930/1931 and 1933/1934. He is considered to be one of the creators of the Poor Law of 1929 and the initiator of the agricultural school and the cantonal fruit growing advice center.

Free was on the board of directors of the Birseckbahn and the Swiss sample fair as well as the Kreisbahnrat I of the SBB . He was also on the board of the Swiss Farmers' Association and President of the Swiss Forestry Association.
