As a side impact (shortened to: stroke , commonly known as: eight , eight ) refers to the lateral deviation of the track of a wheel out of its plane at one or several points. In the case of bicycles in particular , this often manifests itself in the form of a bent, warped rim , which then rubs against the brake in places. Centering the wheel can help.

Similar to the lateral runout, there is also a vertical runout , i.e. a deviation in the shape of the wheel, which is then more oval than round.
