Selpius Bobi

Selpius Bobi is a political activist for the independence of Western New Guinea (West Papua) from Indonesia .

For his role in the March 2006 uprising in the city of Abepur, West Papua, he was sentenced to prison by the Indonesian authorities and served four years in prison between 2006 and 2010. On January 26, 2011, he organized protests by the Papuan people in Jayapura . It was criticized that the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) does not support the local population sufficiently. From October 17-19 , 2011, he took part in the third Papua People's Congress in Abepur as chairman of the assembly. On October 19, 2011, he was arrested for high treason.
