Seltmann Weiden is a porcelain manufacturer from Weiden in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria . He produces his porcelain exclusively in Germany.

history

The " Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann " was founded in 1910 by Christian Wilhelm Seltmann (born 1870). He first learned the profession of porcelain lathe and modeled and painted porcelain in his free time. The Seltmann Weiden company started its production of utility and luxury porcelain initially with three round ovens, which were increased by two in 1913. In 1939 the Krummennaab porcelain factory was incorporated and in 1940 the Erbendorf porcelain factory was bought.

After the end of the war, the plants in Erbendorf and Krummennaab served as accommodation for American soldiers for a long time. Most of the manufacturing facilities were destroyed and made unusable.

Since 1957 the porcelain factory Christian Seltmann GmbH Weiden has owned the absolute majority of the royally privileged porcelain factory Tettau founded in 1794 .

At the beginning of the 1990s, another expansion took place through the takeover of four Thuringian companies: the Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur (founded in 1762), the Unterweißbacher workshops for porcelain art (founded in 1882) with their art department "Schwarzburger Werkstätten für Porzellankunst", the Porzellanmanufaktur Scheibe -Alsbach (founded 1835) and the Porzellanmanufactur Plaue (founded 1817). In 2007 these were expanded into a "Transparent Porcelain Manufactory", which is based in Rudolstadt / Thuringia.

In addition to the main factory in Weiden, there is also a factory in Erbendorf . The Weißenbrunn quartz sand works are also part of the Seltmann group of companies.
