Wilhelm Seltmann
Wilhelm Christian Seltmann (born June 28, 1895 in Schlottenhof , † September 27, 1967 in Erlangen ) was a German porcelain manufacturer.
Career
Seltmann's father Christian Wilhelm Seltmann (1870–1921) founded idOPf in Weiden in 1910. the Seltmann Weiden porcelain factory . After his death, Wilhelm Seltmann continued to expand the company together with his mother Katharina. In 1921 he met 18-year-old Maria (1903-2005) and married her in 1923. With her he had two sons and a daughter. In 1939 and 1940, the plants in Erbendorf and Krummennaab were added to the main plant. He made a contribution to the development of new working methods and promoted automation in the porcelain industry.
He represented professional interests as President of the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry .
He died in 1967 due to contagious liver cirrhosis . His body was buried in the city cemetery in Weiden. On her 90th birthday in 1993, Maria Seltmann donated almost all of her private assets in the several millions. The Maria Seltmann Foundation is still the largest private foundation in the history of Weiden.
