The Nacka masts in October 2014

The Nackasändaren is a broadcasting facility in the Greater Stockholm , which has existed since the 1956th The radio station Nacka broadcast the first television program in Sweden in 1956 .

At that time, the Nacka transmitter used two 160-meter-high tubular steel masts, which, as they were also used as a transmission antenna for medium waves , were isolated from the earth. In 1965, a 299 meter high guyed steel truss mast was erected as the third transmission mast for broadcasting VHF radio and television programs. In contrast to the medium-wave transmission masts, this transmission mast is earthed , but until the medium-wave transmission operation was discontinued, it carried isolators in the top guy ropes in order not to unduly influence the directional diagram of the medium-wave transmitter. On June 1, 1981, the medium-wave transmission in Nacka was stopped and the tubular steel masts used for this purpose were demolished on November 2, 1983 and December 7, 1983. In its place, another 299 meter high guyed steel truss mast was erected for broadcasting VHF radio and television programs.
