As Senditron refers to a controllable with the aid of a grating mercury vapor rectifier with mercury cathode . In contrast to the Ignitron and Excitron , the Senditron's anode is also made of mercury. Senditrons were used in flash units until the 1960s ; today they have been replaced by thyristors .
