Senimen (Seni-men)
Snj-mn

Senimen was an ancient Egyptian civil servant who served under the reigning Queen Hatshepsut . He is known from various sources, according to which he was primarily responsible for bringing up the king's daughter Neferure .

Senimen had the title Child of the Harem of Nebpehtire , which indicates that Senimen grew up under King Ahmose . Nebpehtire is the throne name of Ahmose. Perhaps already in the reign of Thutmose II he became the caretaker of the king's daughter . The king's daughter Neferure played a special role under Thutmose II and Hatshepsut and obviously also had her own lands, which were administered by Senimen. In the end he was also appointed teacher to the king's daughter. Since he was quite old at that time, he was replaced by Senenmut in this position around the 7th year of Hatshepsut's reign .

Little is known of the Senimen family. His mother's name was Senemiah. Older research considered him to be the brother of Senenmut, which is now considered unproven. Senimen and his mother are shown in Senenmut's grave ( TT71 ), which at least suggests a family relationship. Senimen was buried in the Theban tomb TT252 .
