Seniors Union of the CSU

The Seniors' Union (SEN) is the youngest association of the CSU . It represents the interests of older party members and is specifically intended to address the electorate of senior citizens . The administration is located in the Franz Josef Strauss House in Munich.

Inner structure

The senior citizens' union of the CSU has 10 district and around 100 district associations across Bavaria. It currently has over 12,000 members and the number is rising.

history

The founding of the CSU Seniors' Union was decided at the CSU party conference on September 9, 1995. Before that, there were already individual associations at local and district level. The first national spokesman for the senior citizens' union was Florian Harlander, the former country manager of the CSU, whose successor was Gebhard Glück on November 10, 1997 .

On July 12, 1999, the rules of procedure of the Seniors' Union were approved by the CSU party executive and thus came into force. By resolution of the CSU party congress on October 8, 1999, the Seniors' Union became a working group of the CSU

Konrad Weckerle was chairman from 2005 to 2013, followed by Thomas Goppel on October 12, 2013 .
