The FU is represented externally by the state executive committee, in which the chairwoman is supported by four deputies. The Frauen-Union maintains several project groups in which all members can participate. history

The women's union in Bavaria was founded on August 29, 1947 in Eichstätt as a state working group for women chaired by Thusnelda Lang-Brumann . A “Wife and Family” working committee had existed since 1946. From 1948 to 1951 she belonged to the joint women's working group of the CDU / CSU, before acting independently again from June 1953 as the women's working group (FAG) of the CSU with its own rules of procedure. In June 1965, FAG received a permanent women's department in the CSU state management. In June 1968 the FAG of the CSU was renamed the Frauen-Union (FU).

Viewpoints

Since the women's congress held in 1965, the thematic focus of the FU has not been directed towards family policy , which was traditionally understood as women's policy , but rather on the role of working women in society and other aspects of gender equality .

After having been critical and even negative about a women's quota for a long time, the Women's Union decided at its state assembly in 2009 to demand a quota of 40 percent for both genders for all party offices. At the CSU state party conference in October 2010, she was able to enforce this demand for tough disputes, but only at the state and district level and not at the level of the local and district associations.

As part of the CSU state party convention in November 2013, the Women's Union launched the “No to forced prostitution ” campaign, which advocates tightening prostitution law in Germany and more official controls.
