Emilia Müller
Emilia Franziska Müller (born September 28, 1951 in Schwandorf ) is a German politician ( CSU ).
From November 2005 to October 2007 and from October 2008 to October 2013 she was Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs in the Bavarian State Chancellery . From October 2007 to October 2008, Müller was Minister of State for Economics, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology . From October 2013 to March 2018 she was Minister of Social Affairs in the Seehofer II cabinet .
job
After graduating as a state-certified chemical technician at the Dr. Erwin Elhardt in Munich, she worked since 1972 for the then Max Planck Institute for Cell Chemistry in Munich (later Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry ) and since 1973 at the Institute for Biochemistry at the University of Regensburg . In 1984 Müller worked as a company assistant and consultant at the parents' school in Regensburg and in 1988 moved to the Institute for Biochemistry , Microbiology and Genetics and in 1997 to the Institute for Physiology at the University of Regensburg.
Local and European politics
Before her career in state politics, Müller was active at the local level: from 1990 to 2003 she was a member of the market council in Bruck in the Upper Palatinate , and since 1996 she has been a district councilor in the Schwandorf district .
From 1999 to 2003 she was a member of the European Parliament , where she was a member of the committees for the environment, public health and consumer policy and for women's rights and equal opportunities. In addition, she was Deputy Chair of the EU-Slovakia Joint Parliamentary Committee, Deputy Member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and member of the Bioethics Working Group. She has been a member of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union since 2010 . Since October 2013 she has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . In the state elections on October 14, 2018 , she no longer ran.
State policy
On October 14, 2003, Müller became State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment, Health and Consumer Protection , before replacing Eberhard Sinner as Minister for Europe on November 29, 2005 . On October 16, 2007 she was sworn in as Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs. From 2005 to 2009 she was state chairwoman of the women's union , since 2008 she has been chairwoman of the CSU district association of Upper Palatinate. Müller also sat on the board of directors of the Bavarian state bank BayernLB from October 2007 to October 2008 .
In the state elections in 2008 , despite the first place on the list of the Upper Palatinate district, she was unable to enter the state parliament due to the high loss of votes by the CSU. Nevertheless, she was appointed Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs in the Bavarian State Chancellery by Prime Minister Horst Seehofer . In October 2013, she was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in the Seehofer II cabinet .
In this function, she visited the newly opened deportation center near Ingolstadt on September 1, 2015 and said in a conversation broadcast by television cameras to an asylum seeker from Kosovo : “You are well housed? Well. But you know that you have to go back? ”. This was criticized in the Süddeutsche Zeitung as “complete lack of empathy towards people fleeing”.
Private life
Emilia Müller is married and has two grown sons. She lives in Bruck in the Upper Palatinate .

Müller is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Reading Foundation . She is an ambassador for the school project values space.
