Franz Neubauer (politician, 1930)

Franz Neubauer (born May 10, 1930 in Großsichdichfür , Czechoslovakia ; † December 2, 2015 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CSU ).

Life

After being expelled from the Egerland in 1946 and graduating from high school in 1949, Neubauer began studying law in Munich , which he completed in 1957 with the second state examination in law. In 1958 he joined the Bavarian financial administration. He worked for the tax offices in Traunstein , Munich -Land and Rosenheim , and also taught at the state finance school in Herrsching am Ammersee . From 1967 to 1970 Neubauer was municipal finance officer in the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance .

From 1970 to 1986 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament ; he was also a freelance tax advisor from 1971 to 1977 . 1977/78 State Secretary in the Bavarian Ministry of Justice , 1978 to 1984 in the Ministry of the Interior . His activities in the Ministry of the Interior included the management of the "Neubauer Commission" named after him to reduce bureaucracy and simplify administration.

From 1984 to 1986 he was Bavarian State Minister for Labor and Social Affairs .

He then switched from politics to finance. From 1987 to 1993 he was executive president of the Bavarian Savings Banks and Giro Association, from 1993 to 1998 Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayerische Landesbank . His successes in this role include the Landesbank's involvement in East Central Europe, particularly in Hungary, and the expansion of its presence in East Asia.

From 1982 to 2000 Neubauer was honorary spokesman for the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft , and from 1987 (also until 2000) federal chairman of the Sudeten German ethnic group. These two offices made Neubauer one of the most famous German politicians in the Czech Republic in the 1990s . Neubauer repeatedly appealed to the Czech side to “recognize expropriation and expulsion as injustice”. After the end of his term of office as federal chairman, Neubauer was elected honorary chairman of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft. At times he was a member of the Presidium of the Sudeten German Council .

From 1978 to 1997, Neubauer was also the honorary spokesman for the community campaign Safe to School - Safe Home .

Neubauer lived in Nussdorf am Inn and was with Erika Neubauer, nee. Trudrung, married. He died on December 2, 2015 at the age of 85.
