European Charlemagne Prize of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Charlemagne Prize of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft has been awarded annually since 1958. In contrast to the International Charlemagne Prize in Aachen , it is named after the Bohemian King and Roman-German Emperor Charles IV .

It is to be awarded "to personalities and institutions in politics, intellectual life or business [...] who have made special merits in the understanding and cooperation of the peoples and countries of Central Europe [...] through the speaker on the occasion of the Sudeten German Day [...] in principle." only if the award winner is personally present [...]. "

The European Charles Prize consists of a certificate, a medal with a ribbon in the Sudeten German colors (black, red and black) and prize money. The medal is a replica of the majesty seal of Emperor Charles IV on the Golden Bull of 1356, the Basic Law of the Holy Roman Empire .
