The Bavarian State Minister for Federal and European Affairs and the Media is a State Minister in the State Chancellery of the Free State of Bavaria based in Munich . Since November 2018, the office has been linked to the position of head of the State Chancellery. Before the state elections in October 2018, the office was named Bavarian State Minister for Digital, Media and Europe.
Duties and characteristics of the minister
The Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs and the Media is, in addition to his function as Head of the State Chancellery, responsible for all Federal and European affairs. His field of activity is supplemented by the field of media. However, since November 12, 2018, the newly created Bavarian State Ministry for Digital has been responsible for fundamental matters and the coordination of the digitization of Bavaria, which were previously located in the State Chancellery . This new department is also responsible for film funding and policy as well as digital entertainment (games). The Minister of State fulfills his duties in accordance with the policy guidelines determined by the Prime Minister independently and under his own responsibility to the State Parliament. In doing so, he has the staff and budget of the State Chancellery within the scope of his duties. Fundamental questions and the coordination of European policy and the representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union are one of the tasks of the Minister of State. This also includes the observation of all important political processes in the EU and the maintenance of Bavaria's external relations. Furthermore, his field of activity is the area of federal affairs and the area of the media, such as B. Broadcasting.
