Senoko Energy Pte Ltd (SE) is the largest electricity producer in Singapore with an installed capacity of 3,500 MW .

history

The beginnings of SE go back to 1976, when the first blocks of the Senoko power plant were built. PowerSenoko , as the name was then, was part of the Public Utilities Board (PUB) at the time. The state-owned energy supplier PUB was a monopoly on electricity supply in Singapore until 1995. As part of the privatization of the electricity industry from 1995 onwards, the generation and distribution of electricity as well as the regulatory supervision for it were separated in Singapore. PowerSenoko was founded in 1995 as a 100% subsidiary of the state-owned Singapore Power Limited .

On April 1, 2001 PowerSenoko was then passed on to the also state-owned Temasek Holdings and converted into Senoko Power Ltd. (SP) renamed. In September 2008 Temasek Holdings sold SP to the Lion Power consortium for S $ 3.65 billion . On 13 January 2010 SP changed its name and became Senoko Energy Pte Ltd .

The owner of SE is the Lion Power consortium , consisting of the Japanese companies Marubeni (30%), Kansai Electric Power Company (15%), Kyūshū Electric Power Company (15%) and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (10%) as well as the French GDF Suez (30%).

100% subsidiaries of SE are:

  • Senoko Gas Supply Pte Ltd (SGSPL): SGSPL operates as a gas supplier.
  • Senoko Services Pte. Ltd. (SSPL): On the grounds of the Senoko Marine Operations Center , SSPL operates tank farms and a terminal at which ships up to 274 m in length and a draft of up to 11.5 m can dock.

Investments

SE operates two power plants in Singapore: the Senoko power plant (3,300 MW), which is located in the Senoko industrial zone of the North West district, and the Pasir Panjang power plant (210 MW), which is located in the south of Singapore, not far from Labrador Park .

SE was founded as a Private Limited Company (Pte Ltd) under the laws of Singapore. The number of shareholders in this type of company is limited to 50. Pte Ltd is the most common type of company in Singapore.
