features

butterfly

The moths reach a wingspan of 70 to 90 millimeters. There is a clear sexual dimorphism between the sexes . In the males, the basic color of the forewings is black and is traversed by a yellow inner and a white outer narrow cross-band, each interrupted several times by the black veins. Small white spots and dots can be seen near the wing tip . The basic color of the upper side of the hind wings is yellow to yellow-orange and black in the submarginal region and at the edge. A black discal spot stands out clearly . The undersides of the wings depict the drawing of the upper sides in a similar form, sometimes some light spots shimmer slightly bluish. The females primarily differ in the color of the upper side of the hind wings, which can vary from whitish to blackish. On the forewing upper side, the white patch pattern is more extensive than in the males. In the females, too, the drawing on the upper side of the wing appears to be slightly weakened and then to the underside.
