The Serafin Group is a holding company based in Munich .

history

The company was founded in 2010 by the former shareholders of Haindl Papier . The company invests primarily in medium-sized companies. Heller Tools was acquired in 2014 , Gersthofer Backbetriebe (Gretl Brot) in 2015, Eurocylinder Systems in 2016 and the porcelain manufacturer BHS Tabletop in 2017 . Most recently, the WESO-Auroraütte foundry was acquired by Viessmann in 2018 , and the shoe manufacturer Bama by SC Johnson . In April 2018, Serafin opened a new office in London with the strategic goal of internationalizing the group. At the end of 2018, the Gersthofer Backbetriebe had to file for bankruptcy. The operation was stopped. The largest takeovers in the company's history to date came in 2019 with the takeover of the Spanish flooring manufacturer RCR Industrial Flooring and the European polycarbonate sheet business from Covestro . The acquisition of the Covestro division was completed on January 2, 2020, and the company has been known as the Exolon Group since then .
