The Bama Group is a manufacturer of insoles , shoe care and accessories for everything to do with shoes.

history

Curt Baumann founded the company in Dresden in 1914 by buying a sewing machine and a hand punch and starting to manufacture insoles. In 1939 the company employed 400 people.

In 1943 the company also moved to a second location in Mosbach , where production was relocated after the Second World War . In addition to a company building (today's Technical Town Hall of the city of Mosbach), numerous accommodations for the employees were also built in the Baumannsiedlung , which was renamed Dresdner Strasse in 1961 . Baumann acquired the Steinbacher Mühle in Neckarzimmern for the tannery, and another plant followed in Neckarelz later . According to its own information, Bama was the market leader in Europe in the insole segment in 1980. In that year Curt W. Baumann became an honorary citizen of Mosbach. In 1993 a manufacturing facility was built in Gorzów (Poland), which is still used today. In 1997, the Mosbach-based company was handed over to Sara Lee and was part of SC Johnson from 2011 to 2018 .

The Bama Group has been part of the Serafin Group since 2018 . The Bama Group is made up of Bama GmbH based in Mosbach (DE) and Bama Schweiz AG based in Spreitenbach (CH). The company sells its products to shoe retailers across Europe under the brands Bama, Woly and Tana.
