Serafina Nuñez
Serafina Núñez , actually Mercedes Serafina Núñez de Villavicencio y Ortiz , (born August 14, 1913 in Havana , Cuba ; † June 2006 ibid) was a Cuban teacher and writer.
Life
Núñez studied at the University of Havana a . a. Pedagogy and was able to successfully finish this course in 1949. Then she got a job as a teacher and practiced this profession until 1969. During the preparatory work for the anthology La poesía cubana in 1936 , Núñez made the acquaintance of the writer Juan Ramón Jiménez . After reading samples of her literary work, he was enthusiastic and supported her throughout his life. Through him she soon met Gabriela Mistral , Alfonso Reyes and others. a. know and appreciate.
Shortly before her 93rd birthday, Serafina Núñez died in June 2006 in her hometown, where she also found her final resting place.
