Serapion from Thmuis
Serapion (Sarapion) of Thmuis "the inflamed" (Hebrew - Greek) (* approx. 300 AD; † approx. 370 AD in Thmuis ) was a Christian theologian, Bishop of Thmuis in Lower Egypt and a saint .
Serapion was on good terms with Antony the Great and Athanasius . Like these, he promoted monasticism .
In the Arian dispute he sided with Athanasius. He was also active as a theological writer and wrote a polemic against the Manicheans . Saint Serapion is commemorated in the Roman Church on March 21st, in the Coptic Church on March 7th.
