SM furniture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SM furniture is used to enable or support the fixation of the bottom (passive partner) by the top (active partner) in the context of BDSM or bondage games . They are an integral part of corresponding private rooms and commercial studios; such rooms are also called dungeons in the jargon of the BDSM scene . They are often based on ancient torture and punitive instruments such as rack and pillory . Others were adopted from the medical field, such as the gynecological chair .

Some SM furniture is designed in such a way that it can be camouflaged by conversion. They then look like ordinary furniture and can be accommodated in normal rooms without causing a stir. SM furniture is usually very expensive, especially one-off and custom-made products, which is why used medical equipment is used as an alternative or furniture is built by yourself. Almost all of the larger SM online communities and forums contain information and instructions for building furniture and equipment yourself (often referred to as handicrafts ).

The St. Andrew's Cross is an x-shaped cross (often just called a cross ) in human size. It was named after the Christian apostle Andrew , who is said to have been sentenced to death by crucifixion on an X-shaped cross around AD 60. It usually consists of wood or metal and is used to fix the passive partner ( bottom ). The front and back of the restrained person are freely accessible to the active partner ( top ), the extremities are spread and fixed, the term spread-agled is also used for this. Because the man's feet are mostly on the floor and bear the weight of the body, injuries to the joints and shortness of breath from pulling on the arms and the pressure on the chest as in a real crucifixion are unlikely. It is often also found in modifications as wall hooks, foldable stand or wall cross. In addition to the classic St. Andrew's cross, T-crosses ( Christ crosses ) are also occasionally used. However, these have the disadvantage within the erotic game that the legs of the tied up are closed.

gynecological chair

The " gynecological chairs " used largely correspond to the devices commonly used in gynecological medical practices, but they are often technically simplified and correspondingly cheaper, for example without electrical adjustment. It is used, among other things, for clinical games or as an alternative to the slave bed .

pillory

The pillory usually consists of two parallel boards, which are connected by hinges and are attached to the end of a strong post or can be freely hung in the room using eyelets attached to the side. In both boards there are recesses for the neck and, to the left and right of them, for the wrists, often the ankles can also be fixed with them. In contrast to the historical original, pillories from the BDSM area are often decorated and padded. The neck violin follows a very similar principle , the arrangement of both hands on one side of the head differentiates the tools in use.

The main purpose of a pillory used in BDSM is fixation. Depending on the type of pillory, certain parts of the body of the fixated person are made accessible, and the pillory often dictates a bent over posture.

A special case are the so-called table pillory (table-like pillory with a recess for the neck of the restrained person) on which, for example, feeding games can be carried out.

Slave box or black box

A box, usually made of wood or metal, in which the bottom is locked. The box is usually dimensioned in such a way that it is not possible to change the position taken. The box is usually light-tight, but usually has an opening for breathing air. Further openings, for example for the mouth or feet, can be provided, and other accessories ( dildos , hooks or the like) can sometimes be attached inside the box .

Slave cage

A cage in which the bottom is locked and which is usually just big enough to accommodate a person. Changing the position is not possible depending on the design. Depending on the construction, the bottom is forced to permanently stand, crouch or remain on all fours. There are also different variants here, for example constructions with which the cage can be pulled under the ceiling. There is often the option of further fixing the bottom inside the cage or attaching accessories ( clips , dildos or the like).

Slave bed

A lounger on which the bottom can be fixed. There are different variants such as flat, curved, adjustable, with handcuffs and ankle cuffs , bondage straps or brackets for attaching bondage equipment. One variant is the hospital bed, which is flat or adjustable and has no restraint devices. Another common variant is the slave chair, to which devices such as dildos can often be attached.

Sling (love swing)

A love swing is usually a lounger or a belt system that is attached to the ceiling or a special frame and in which the bottom can be placed in order to create free access to the top for, for example, sexual intercourse. The love swing is also widespread among so-called vanilla sex couples who do not use sadomasochistic practices. In the BDSM variant, there are often a variety of ways to fix the partner on the swing.

Smotherbox

A smotherbox (also known as an oral box or toilet box) is a mostly box-like device that is used to enable a top to sit on the face of a bottom as part of domination and submission ; this can facilitate so-called facesitting , in which breath reduction can be achieved, but also be useful for oral sex . In addition, the box can also be used to dispense urine to the bottom. These boxes / components are mainly used in the femdom .

Spanish rider

A Spanish rider or Spanish horse is the name given to a wooden trestle with a wedge-shaped transverse wood that is pointed upwards and on which the bottom can be fixed or unfixed with legs apart. The frame is usually dimensioned so that the feet cannot touch the ground and the entire body weight rests on the edge. Additional weights on the ankles can increase pressure on the pubic area. In contrast to the corresponding historical instruments of torture , the upper edge of the crossbar is often widened, sometimes even padded. Instead of the sharp points that were embedded in the edge in the original, notches occasionally appear in the beam, which are uncomfortable but do not cause serious injuries.

Stretch bench or stretch ladder

This piece of furniture was also created from a historical instrument of torture, the rack . Here, the bottom is fixed on both hands and feet on a bed usually made of wood. Chains or ropes can be wound up over a roller, creating a mechanical pull on the joints. Overstretching can lead to serious injury.

Commode chair

Conventional toilet or body chair with toilet bowl, as it is also known from nursing . A special toilet chair is the so-called "slave toilet", which is placed over the body, usually the face of the bottom (similar to the smother box). Both variants are used in excretion games.

Vacuum bed

A vacuum bed is a kind of full-body sleeping bag (similar to a body bag or a mummification ) made of airtight material, from which the air can be sucked out in order to restrain someone. The vacuum beds are mostly made of latex, so this furniture has a special additional attraction for rubber and latex fetishists.
