The Serbian Hound ( Srpski Gonic , also Serbian Bracke ) is a breed from Serbia recognized by the FCI ( No. 150, Gr. 6, Sec. 1.2 ) .
Surname
The Serbian hound used to be known under the name "Balkanbracke" or "Balkan hound". The FCI changed the name in 1996 to "Serbian Hound".
Origin and history
The Serbian Hound was originally common along the border with Bulgaria . It is likely that the Asian hounds contributed to the development of this breed. The breed was first mentioned in 1905 by Franz Laska, the first standard was established in 1924. The FCI recognized the dog breed in 1940. The Yugoslav Cynological Association has taken control of the breed.
description
Old breed, as good as unchanged in the Balkans for 250 years. The dogs are medium-sized to 56 cm. The fur is dense, close-fitting, in the colors red with a black coat or saddle. As with almost all hunting dog breeds , the ears are pendulous, large, and thin.
