Sergei Leonidowitsch Semchenok ( Russian Сергей Леонидович Земченок ; born March 6, 1976 in Berezniki , Russian SFSR ; † January 2001 ) was a Russian ice hockey goalkeeper who was under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk during his entire professional career from 1993 to 2001 in the Russian Super League .
Career
Sergei Semtschenok began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1993/94 season . As the second and third goalkeeper, he and his team won the European Hockey League in 1999 and 2000 , and the national cup competition in 1998. After the runner-up in 1998, the goalkeeper and his team became Russian champions for the first and only time in his career in the 1998/99 season . In January 2001, the Russian was the victim of a robbery in the course of which he was shot.
