Sergei Michailowitsch Bogdanschikow (born August 10, 1957 in Bogdanowka near Severnoje , Orenburg Oblast ; Russian Сергей Михайлович Богданчиков ) is a Russian manager. From 1998 to 2010 he was head of the state-owned oil company Rosneft .

Bogdanschikow received the title of candidate of science at the Ufa Oil Institute in 1981 . In 1993 he was promoted to general director of the Rosneft subsidiary Sakhalinmorneftegas. In 1998 he was appointed the new Rosneft boss. Bogdanschikow restructured the group, which had degenerated into a "self-service shop" under the former manager Alexander Putilow .

In 2003, Rosneft found itself in a dispute with its competitor Yukos over oil holdings. Bogdanschikow used his close political contacts to the government to obtain the arrest of Yukos managers Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev in October 2003. Rosneft received Yuganskneftegas , the main Yukos oil production company , in an auction in December 2004 . This made Rosneft the third largest Russian oil company. A planned merger between Rosneft and Gazprom in 2005 failed. 2010 Bogdanschikow was replaced by Eduard Chudainatow .
