Sergei Sergejewitsch Morozov

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sergei Sergejewitsch Morozov ( Russian Сергей Сергеевич Морозов , English transcription Sergey Morozov; born March 21, 1988 in Saransk ) is a Russian walker .

The former youth and junior world champion caused a sensation when he won the Russian championship in 20 km walking in 1:16:43 h on June 8, 2008 and undercut the world record by 33 seconds. However, his time was not ratified as a world record because of the failure to conduct doping controls in this competition. Shortly afterwards, he delivered a sample during an unannounced doping test that tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO), which subsequently turned out to be the reason why Morosow did not take part in the 2008 Summer Olympics . A two-year ban was imposed on him for violating the doping rules. In 2012 he was noticed because of abnormal blood values and was subsequently banned for life.
