Series Link

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Series Link ( SL ) function enables digital video recorders ( PVR , PDR , DVR ) to automatically program the recording of all episodes of a television series . The SL function is made available in the EPG and is based on the use of so-called " Content Reference Identifiers " (CRID, RFC 4078 ). Usually the recording of a complete series can be started with a single push of a button. If a program provider or the provider of an EPG supports this function, a so-called "Series CRID" ( crid_type = 0x02or - deviating from the open ETSI standard - crid_type = 0x32) is transmitted for each episode of a series , which identifies this episode as part of the series. The SL function can be combined with the Accurate Recording (AR) function, so that each individual episode of the series is recorded without loss and without unnecessary lead-in and follow-up time (precise to the broadcast). The TiVo has a comparable function under the brand name "Season Pass ® ".
